About Sta. Elena Properties, Inc.

In 1989, Jose Alberto Yulo Quiros (Bebo) from Canlubang Sugar Estates and Bienvenido R. Tantoco, Jr. (Rico) from the Rustan Group of Companies, toyed with the idea of building a world-class golf course on a piece of property in Sta. Rosa, Laguna that belonged to the family of Mr. Quiros. Both golfers, they dreamed of a golfing experience that would rival that of the world’s best golf courses.

Their idea developed further into a plan to incorporate “pockets of residential enclaves in and around the golf course”. Given that the property was conveniently located right beside the South Luzon Expressway, and within a 40-minute drive from Metro Manila, they anticipated its potential to offer families an alternative to living in the city.

Their logic was simple. Metro Manila, like any other big city, will become less and less of a place for families to have a home. Even those who can afford to live in the “center of the city” will start thinking of a better quality of life for their families.

In 1990, with the help of their friend, architect & masterplanner Jun Palafox, and renowned golf course designer, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., they set out to design and develop what they envisioned to be a luxury residential community of lush tropical rainforests and dramatic golf landscape. They named it “Sta. Elena”, after Bebo’s mother, Maria Elena Yulo Quiros. Before development, Sta. Elena was largely a vast expanse of sugar fields, having been formerly a part of the Canlubang Sugar Estates.

Today, Sta. Elena is often referred to as The Garden of Eden. Its fairways have received numerous awards and citations, including BEST COURSE IN THE PHILIPPINES 2002 - 2007 by Asian Golf Monthly. Its forests are certified by Audubon International, as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for its diversity in Philippine flora and fauna.

Sta. Elena’s award-winning forests and fairways now resemble the kind of place that Bebo and Rico pictured over ten years ago – the perfect backdrop, fit for a family’s dream home. With the completion of Sta. Elena Village Banahaw, an “island” village completely encircled by the Banahaw fairways (2nd Nine) of the golf course, families may now live and relish in Sta. Elena’s one of a kind charm and elegance.

What makes Sta. Elena special also is its proximity and accessibility to Metro Manila. Within minutes from the city, you are transported into another world – in a very private and exclusive, luxury, residential community surrounded by a nature sanctuary and the country’s best fairways.
